What do you love most about your profession? Why did you choose this career?
I am ambitious, I love to develop new skills, and I am always looking for a challenge. A career in tech, especially at a small company, keeps me motivated and inspired. By being involved with so many parts of the business, I continue to develop professionally and step outside of my comfort zone.
How do you think the school you went to influenced your career?
In university, I was looking for an outlet for my creativity. I turned to a leadership position at a student publication. These types of extracurricular activities provided me with real-life experience and direct insight into various career paths. This exposure allowed me to develop new skills, build confidence, and provide me with lifelong lessons.
What was the best advice you have been given?
“Passions are built.” – I’ve always looked for a career surrounding my passions and the things I enjoy. Once I loosened up and started exposing myself to new things, I realized we develop new passions (sometimes in places we least expect).
What is a common misconception about your field of work?
Many people are under the impression that the tech sector is only for developers, coders, and IT. That’s simply not true. This space has so many unique roles that are continuously evolving for problem-solvers, connectors, and creatives.
What do you do when you feel stuck?
I take a break and generate a reset. This could be by changing my environment, grabbing a coffee, or walking my dog. When I come back, it’s easier to take a fresh crack at moving forward.
