Consent to Participate
As part of our STEMforGIRLS Summer Camp experience, we’re inviting participants to help us write a group letter in support of our application to the NSERC PromoScience program—a national funding initiative that helps programs like ours continue and grow.
The letter will be based on campers’ own reflections about what they’ve learned and why STEMforGIRLS is important. Each camper will fill out a short worksheet with guided prompts (e.g., “STEMforGIRLS is important because…” and “Something I loved or learned was…”). Their answers will be compiled into a final letter, which all campers will be invited to sign using their first name only.
Participation in this activity is voluntary. The purpose of the activity will be explained to your child, and even if you provide consent, your child can still choose not to take part. If they do participate, they can skip any questions or stop at any time. They will also have the opportunity to ask questions before, during, or after the activity.
This is a wonderful opportunity for campers to share their voices and help show the impact of the program directly to the funding organization.
We’re asking for your permission for your child to:
- Fill out the guided worksheet (either on paper or digitally)
- Have their responses included in a compiled group letter
- Sign the final letter using their first name only
No personal information (last names, photos, or identifying details) will be shared publicly. The final letter will be included only in our funding application.
