Embrace Diversity and Inclusion
Respect everyone’s unique background and perspective. Our differences make us stronger!
Actively listen and engage with diverse viewpoints. There’s always something new to learn.
Work to create a safe space for open dialogue where everyone feels valued and respected without fear of judgment.
Use clear language to minimize miscommunications and misinterpretations. Humour, sarcasm and, in virtual settings, “textspeak” can cause unintentional harm to others.
Unacceptable behaviour includes profane language, harassment, bullying or exclusionary behaviour.
Lead by example, with Integrity and Empathy
Demonstrate honesty, integrity, and accountability in all your actions.
Treat others with kindness and consideration, fostering a culture of mutual respect and support.
Show empathy and support for your peers. We’re here to lift each other up. This includes forgiving others when appropriate. Miscommunications occur for many reasons, and we must all forgive each other when they occur and try to do better in the future.
Be respectful of the materials and content provided through STEMforGIRLS for the purpose of learning and expanding the STEMforGIRLS community.
Support Personal Growth and Gender Equality
Take ownership of your growth and help others on their journey. Being unafraid to fail early and often means long-term success.
Champion gender equality in STEM and beyond. Every voice matters in the fight for fairness.

If there is any interaction within the STEMforGIRLS community that you feel violates this code, in word or spirit, you can contact stemforgirls@wrdc.ca to alert a STEMforGIRLS Coordinator or info@wrdc.ca to connect with Management through our umbrella organization WRDC.
If you believe you or anyone is in physical danger, please notify appropriate law enforcement first.
