Get To Know Me

When did you realize you wanted to work in STEM or Skilled Trades?

I realized I wanted to work in STEM when I took a science class that focused on real-world problem solving. I loved the idea that science and technology could be used to improve lives.

Why do we need more women in STEM and Skilled Trades?

We need more women in STEM and Skilled Trades because diverse perspectives lead to better ideas and more innovative solutions. Women bring unique strengths to the table, and having more gender representation breaks stereotypes and shows future generations that these fields are for everyone.

What was your first job? What skills from it continue to help you in your current role?

My first job was in retail at Urban Planet. I developed communication skills, learned how to handle customers calmly under pressure, and became better at multitasking — all skills that continue to help me work effectively with others and manage time well.

What do you do when you feel stuck?

When I feel stuck, I take a short break and do something that clears my head, like going for a walk or journaling. Then I come back with a fresh perspective. I also reach out to someone I trust for advice, a second opinion can really help.

What do you do for fun? What are some of your hobbies/activities?

For fun, I love dancing and singing , they’re my favourite ways to express myself and relax. I’m also learning to play the keyboard, which has been a fun and rewarding challenge. Music plays a big role in my life, and I enjoy exploring it in different forms.

If you had a superpower, what would it be? And what is your real greatest strength?

If I had a superpower, I’d choose the ability to learn any skill instantly. My real-life strength is adaptability — I can quickly adjust to new situations and stay calm when things don’t go as planned.

What is your favorite television show/movie?

My favorite show is Grey’s Anatomy. I admire the way it blends science, human connection, and perseverance and it reminds me that challenges can be overcome with teamwork and resilience.

What advice would you give students who might be considering a career like yours? What advice would you have given your younger self?

Don’t be afraid to explore and ask questions. Try new things, even if they feel outside your comfort zone. Every experience teaches you something.
