Get To Know Me

What do you love most about your profession? Why did you choose this career?

I like to solve problems and learn new things. This job provides me with the opportunity to do so. I chose this job because I believe this profession has more demand in the market.

When did you realize you wanted to work in STEM or Skilled Trades?

I decided to work in a STEM-related profession when I started studying at the Memorial University of Newfoundland.

Why do we need more women in STEM and Skilled Trades?

Women are more caring and detail-oriented. They can provide understanding and maturity to the team.

What does your typical workday involve? Can you work remotely? (indoors/outdoors, office/plant, travel time, teamwork/solo work)?

Collaborate with different developers to build a good project, communicate with colleagues and stay up to date on the company projects, meetings to discuss progress, building apps.

Who is your role model? What is it about this person that inspires you?

My mother is my role model. She is the owner of a barber shop in Malaysia. She inspires me because she is the reason I am here. She sacrificed her time to earn money and provide a good environment for us. Although she does not have much education, she is able to run a business and manage the whole thing. She is a true self-made woman.

What do you do for fun? What are some of your hobbies/activities?

Walking around the city and playing piano.

What advice would you give students who might be considering a career like yours? What advice would you have given your younger self?

Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Don't worry if you find it hard at first, everything will come together. And just have fun with it!
